In the early days of games on home computers were a number of classic racing games like Pole Position, Out Run, Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge and, later, Geoff Crammond’s Grand Prix Games. Grand Prix 4 is always played by a core audience of nearly 10 years after its release, but Codemasters relaunched the F1 franchise across multiple platforms a few years ago (formerly Sony owns the rights), there was little to do with GP4 competition for those looking for a racing game F1-style seriously.
